Why You Shouldn’t Skimp on Wedding Photography
Why You Shouldn’t Skimp on Wedding Photography. With all of the various expenses that come with your wedding, it can be staggering how quickly the costs can compound and feel overwhelming. Trying to stick to your budget is a good idea, but there are so many reasons why your wedding photographer is not the place to seek out a cheaper option! Let me explain!
Wedding Photography: Quality
At face value, the price tag attached to a wedding photographer is significant and it can feel shocking to see how much some professionals are charging. There are exceptions to this, but I’m guessing if you’ve had your eye on an incredible photographer that you want to hire, chances are they aren’t cheap. Wedding photographers do land all over a wide spectrum of styles and price ranges, but they do so for a reason. With photography, you really do get what you pay for. As cliché as it may sound, it is so incredibly true.
Experience
From experience level to gear quality and everything in between, the bottom line doesn’t just come down to the hourly rate. There is a lot going on behind the scenes that isn’t listed under what the various wedding coverage packages include. A photographer’s experience is not something to take lightly. A photographer with plenty of weddings and years behind them (with full wedding gallery examples to back it up) may charge more. But they have shot so many weddings that they know exactly what to do. You can focus on your day and be stress free knowing they’ve got it covered and that the images will look amazing. You’re not just paying for their time; you’re investing in someone you can trust to make your wedding album dreams come true.
Coverage
Wedding photography coverage is actually about more than the number of hours the photographer will be at your wedding actively taking photos. Another thing to consider in regard to the price of your photographer is whether or not they have a second shooter. If they do, that means you will actually be getting two completely different views and angles of your day. The images will compliment each other and fill together to create a complete collection to fully tell the story of your wedding from start to finish. There are better chances that you will get the photos you’ve been dreaming of and have a fulfilled shot list, plus more than you could ever hope for if the photographer brings a second shooter.
Hiring a Professional
Experience and coverage also go hand in hand. An experienced wedding photographer knows where to be and when. They will know what lenses to use for which shots. And they will know how to capture those once in a lifetime moments like your first kiss in a way that is breathtaking. They can do all of this in any setting with any type of light. This means you will get those photos you want, and they will look good too. A newer photographer (albeit at a cheaper price point) may not have had enough experience photographing weddings. And because of this, they could miss some once in a lifetime moments. They might not be able to predict them as well as a seasoned professional. So even though they’re present and photographing during the wedding, getting those dream shots is not necessarily a guarantee.
The Final Product
When all is said and done, what you actually get to take with you and keep forever is your photographs. After your DJ plays the last song and you run to your getaway car for your grand exit, your wedding photos are what is left. The decor, food, flowers, venue, and guest list are what make the experience amazing and fill the photos. But the photos are what you actually get to hold onto and cherish as a memory of your wedding. Once you see the amazing images of the people that mean the most to you on an incredibly special day, you will be so glad you didn’t skimp on choosing your photographer.
Wedding Photography
Your photographs are a legacy that will be shown to children and grandchildren. The images will be hung on the wall or live in photo albums for years. Spending the money on a quality photographer will not be something you regret, but there is a good chance that finding a cheaper option for the sake of budgeting may be something that you wish you hadn’t done once you see images that may not be what you’d hoped for from your big day that can’t be recreated. Hiring a quality photographer is an investment you will be so glad you made!
