Wedding Day Checklist for Photographers
Saaty Photography: Wedding Day Checklist for Photographers. Before the big day, it will be necessary to go over what exactly you plan to shoot with the bride and groom, as they will likely have their own list of shots that they want you to take. It will also be important to get a schedule of the wedding for them to help plan these shots. Here is a list of the basic photos to get you started:

Before the Wedding:
- Bride and groom getting ready, respectively
- Veil placement for the bride
- Pinning of boutonniere
- Wedding party having fun
- Detail shots of clothing and accessories (dress, jewelry, corsage, bouquet, rings, etc.)
- Portraits of bride and groom with their parents
- Wedding parties leaving for the ceremony
- Any personal, DIY, or religious items being incorporated
- Wedding party getting into/out of the wedding car
First Look Photos:
- Bride and groom
- Bride and her parents and/or bridesmaids
- Groom and his parents
Ceremony:
- Shots of the empty venue
- Grooms and groomsmen waiting at the alter
- Bride and bridesmaids arriving
- Parents and wedding party entering
- Bride walking up the aisle AND the groom’s reaction to her
- Parent(s) giving bride away
- Exchanging of vows and rings
- Signing wedding license
- Participants (flower girl, ring bearer, officiant, readers, etc.)
- Ceremonial or religious traditions
- First kiss as a married couple
- Couple walking back down the aisle and their exit (especially if guests will be throwing rice or confetti)
Post Ceremony Portraits:
- Shots of the newlyweds alone
- Couple with the bridesmaids and groomsmen
- Couple with the full wedding party
- Bride with bridesmaids
- Groom with groomsmen
- Couple with flower girls, ring bearers, and any other participants
- Couple with both sets of parents, and each set separately
- Couple with any pets incorporated into the ceremony
- Detail shot of bride and groom wearing rings
Reception:
- Empty venue
- Detail shots of decor (centerpieces, place settings, name cards, invitations, etc.)
- The wedding cake
- Couple arriving
- Bouquet and garter toss
- Toasts/speeches
- Cutting the cake
- Couple’s first dance
- Bride and groom dancing with their parents
- Guests dancing and eating
- Musicians/DJ/Entertainment
