Flagstaff is one of the most unique spots in Arizona to get married. People revel in the contrast of the perfectly cool weather and vivid landscape to the rest of the state. This quaint mountain town has excellent food, incredible views, and a variety of scenic locations to celebrate your special day. Flagstaff weather can be wildly unpredictable. Buffalo Park
Located just outside downtown Flagstaff, Buffalo Park is a 215-acre park that is a popular choice for a romantic ceremony. Pass the bison statues and iron gates, and you are welcomed by a 2-mile loop trail that provides magnificent views of the San Francisco Peaks and Mount Elden. There are several stops on the trail that could serve as your perfect wedding venue. Ranging from flowing meadows to fields of green and yellow sunflowers. The venue is free, but there are no services there, so remember to bring the reception with you.
Downtown Flagstaff
With so much history, Downtown Flagstaff is an excellent option for your elopement, especially if you brought some family and friends. There are several venues in and around downtown. For a faith-based option, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel is a small, gothic-style chapel, adorned with beautiful stained glass, gargoyles, and a wood slotted ceiling. Weatherford Hotel, which represents the historic heart of downtown Flagstaff, is an iconic venue, rich in history and even a little haunted. With so many colorful and historic buildings and storefronts, there is a wide variety of spots to take that perfect picture of your memorable day.
Wupatki Ruins
Located about 30 miles north of Flagstaff, near the San Francisco Peaks, Wupatki Ruins is an ancient pueblo that once housed almost 100 members of the Sinagua and Anasazi tribes. The ruins are over 1,000 years old and are still reasonably intact. At the site, you will be dazzled with the breathtaking views of the painted desert and the backdrop of the Flagstaff mountain ranges. There are several spots in the ruins for your ceremony. This includes the community room, the ballcourt, or you can use the pueblo as your backdrop. It gets a little hot in the summer, so spring and fall are your best options for this historic venue.
Aspen Corner
Nestled along Snow Bowl road, about 20 minutes outside of the city center, lies Aspen Corner. The slightly elevated Aspen Loop Trail welcomes you into a majestic forest of aspen, pine, and spruce trees. Along the way, you can be dazzled by jaw-dropping views of the volcanic fields to the west and the magnificent Grand Canyon to North. They all provide the perfect backdrop for your special moment. The fall is the ideal time for your elopement ceremony. We love when the leaves are changing colors, and you can feel the nostalgia of autumns past.
Kendrick Cabin
About 15 minutes from Downtown Flagstaff, there is a retired U.S. Forest Service Fire Guard Station called Kendrick Cabin. Built-in the 60’s, the cabin is a charming 3-bedroom building sits at an elevation of 7,910 feet. Kenrick Park is the home to the cabin and offers breathtaking views of the San Francisco Peaks, Kendrick Mountain, and the surrounding forest. The area is also home to a wide range of wildlife – you might just see an elk or a deer. The cabin is open with running water from mid-April to mid-November. You will have to make reservations and plan at least six months ahead. Your group will have to be limited to 10 people. And, you’re going old school, because there is no electricity in the cabin.
