Sedona Arizona Top 5 Things To Do
Pro Tips: Sedona Arizona Top 5 Things To Do. As both a resident of Northern Arizona and a nature lover, I can tell you that Sedona is a one-of-a-kind place! It’s no secret why people from all over the world come to see Red Rock Country. Known for everything from its signature red rocks to the old Western movies shot there, Sedona has truly stunning views and a rich history. It’s the perfect place to relax and get some much-needed sunlight. Here is my go-to list of the top things to do if you plan on spending time in Sedona.
1. Venture into the Vortexes
If you’re familiar with Sedona, you’re probably already aware that it’s well-known for its variety of vortex hotspots! Vortexes are thought to be centers of spiritual energy that promote healing, meditation, and self-discovery. The energy of these vortexes is often classified as “male,” female,” or “balanced.” Each type of energy provides different positive mental outcomes. If you want to learn more, click here to see details and a map of all the vortexes Sedona has to offer. Whether you believe in the power of spiritual energy or not, these hikes still provide great views of Red Rock Country!
2. Take a Trek to Cathedral Rock
Fun fact: Cathedral Rock is one of the most photographed locations in Sedona! In fact, it’s one of my own favorite spots to take wedding photos and family portraits. These sandstone buttes on Sedona’s south side are even more beautiful to see in person. The Cathedral Rock Trail is a 1.2-mile adventure that’s great to hike any time of year. The red rock formations and sprawling wildflowers are among some of the Sedona icons you’ll encounter on this trail. It can get rocky in some areas, so you’ll want to pack your hiking shoes for this one!
3. Make a Splash at Oak Creek Canyon
Between Flagstaff and Sedona, Arizona State Route 89A descends into Oak Creek Canyon. The Canyon allows for a wonderful scenic drive, but there are also many spots along the way to get out and explore! You’ll find plenty of overlooks, picnic spots, swimming areas, and hiking trails, not to mention great photo opportunities as well! Although none of us are fans of long car rides, this drive is definitely worth your time. With a winding road that shares majestic glimpses of Sedona, there’s always something to see!
4. Fulfill Your Inner Artist at First Friday
What’s better than checking out some art in one of the most beautiful places in the world? On the first Friday of every month from 5-8 pm, the Sedona Gallery Association hosts a gathering featuring new artists, exhibits, and events. Art galleries throughout Sedona open their doors to locals and tourists interested in exploring the city’s thriving art scene. I’d suggest starting with Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village if you’re trying to hit the most galleries in one place. First Friday is a free event that provides a relaxing break from a day of hiking!
5. Capture Your Sedona Memories With a Photo Session!
It’s no wonder why so many of my clients choose Sedona as the location for their photo session! If you plan on traveling to Red Rock Country, you’re already in the ideal place for beautiful photos. Scheduling a photo session is the perfect way to begin (or end!) a day of hiking, exploration, and relaxation. I can help you preserve your Sedona memories for years to come!
