Why Every Freelancer Needs a Dog (Or Two!)
Why Every Freelancer Needs a Dog (Or Two!). Freelancing is truly fun and rewarding, and it is one of the most exciting leaps I have taken in my career. I am completely in charge of my work schedule and how I spend my time, which no doubt has its pros and cons. It is not all fun and games. There are definitely some work perks that make the challenges of freelancing worth every bit of effort.
Ergonomic Software
If you want your work environment to be de-stressed, the best possible way to do so is by adopting a dog. Having the calming and sweet presence of a dog that only wants to love and be loved is a great way to bring happiness into your freelance workspace. I love nothing more than petting my pups as they lean against me while I’m at my desk.
Adventure Pals
As a freelance wedding and portrait photographer in Arizona, the breathtaking natural wonders here make me like a kid in a candy shop. I incorporate the gorgeous scenery the state has to offer into my photography sessions as often as I can. Additionally, I absolutely love shooting adventurous elopements and engagement sessions in nature. As a business practice, I always scout out my photography locations before I have a wedding or portrait session. And my favorite adventure pals to take along with me are my pups! I am constantly on the move and my dogs are eager companions who are just as excited to explore the next incredible outdoor location. I even sometimes take test photos of my dogs ahead of time to make sure the lighting is just right! They make for the cutest models.
Emotional Support
There is no doubt, freelancing is not easy by any means. On those challenging days, my best support system is right there for me. My pups are my best friends and they’re always ready to provide a good cuddle or face lick. Nothing makes me happier than having my dogs by my side!
Why Every Freelancer Needs a Dog (Or Two!)
My personal favorite thing about freelancing is that I get to work in my home office. I also get to work with my trusty dog assistants. Their job descriptions are straightforward and are of no difficulty to them. But, they are an integral part of keeping me on track. Some of their responsibilities are to look adorable, to hang around me for moral support, and to remind me that taking breaks is important (especially when those breaks involve running around the backyard). Working with my dogs beside me is something that I cherish about working as a freelancer. I truly believe that every freelancer needs a dog!
