Beautiful Arizona: Why I Love Shooting Engagements at the Grand Canyon. Arizona is such an incredibly diverse place to be in. Not only do you have the largest Ponderosa Pine Tree forest but you have the wonders of the San Francisco Peaks and their Aspen trees, to the Red Rocks of Sedona, and the stately saguaro cactus down in the valley. But even more incredible than all of that is that Arizona is the home of one of the seven wonders in the world: the Grand Canyon. I couldn’t have said it better myself either, the Grand Canyon is truly a sight to behold. It makes for an incredible backdrop for an engagement session. When celebrating something as big and wonderful as being newly engaged there really is no better backdrop than the big wonderful Grand Canyon.
While there are many reasons that I love shooting at the Grand Canyon, one of the main ones is that it offers such a unique landscape. Not only is the view from the top of the canyon and it’s many outcroppings stunning, but along the North Rim which is often referred to as the Grand Canyon’s “best side” at 8,000 feet above sea level there is a large array of trees. This makes the North Rim an especially beautiful part of the canyon to visit, especially in the Fall when the colors are changing.
Grand Canyon: The Location
The light in the Grand Canyon also makes for spectacular photographs. With sunrise and sunset often offering different versions of the canyon each day every day guarantees something spectacular. The different layers of rock seemingly change color right before your eyes as the sunlight hits them differently during different times of day. But no matter what time of day it is, the views and the light that comes with it is sure to stun.
