Monica and Jonathan: Elopement Anniversary
One year ago, I married my best friend. In the middle of a meadow with the peaks as our background, we share our vows. Our elopement was very intimate. Our parents and dogs were the only ones in attendance. It was absolutely perfect. I wanted to share the private vows I created for Jonathan.
To My Best Friend, My Partner, My Love.
Jonathan, you are the greatest friend I have ever had.
The years I have been with you have truly been my happiest. I am so excited to spend the rest of my life with you. With you, I feel secure. With you, I feel that all of our dreams are possible.
With you, I feel complete.
What I love the most about being around you is that it’s just easy.
Each day with you is filled with the sounds of laughter, the feeling of love, and the sharing of all things good.
My vows to you are based on a few things I have learned from our dogs:
To you – my buddy – I promise to run, romp, and play together daily.
I promise to never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride – or on errands –
as long as we’re together.
I promise to eat the meals you provide with enthusiasm.
I promise to be loyal to you.
I will delight in the simple joy of a long walk or a short nap with you.
I will miss you the moment you leave and will eagerly wait for you to come home.
And when you come home, I will run to greet you.
I will practice patience – with you and with myself.
And while doing so, I promise to avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
When you are having a bad day, I will be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle you gently.
And when you’re happy, I will dance around and wag my entire body.
Lastly – above all – I promise to show you how much you mean to me everyday.
Forever and for always.
