How to Choose a Color Palette for Your Arizona Family Photos

How to Choose a Color Palette for Your Arizona Family Photos

The Perfect Session: How to Choose a Color Palette for Your Arizona Family Photos. Okay, so you’ve decided you want to take family pictures, you found a photographer you love and you’ve set a date. But there is one daunting question. What do you and your family wear? Now there is a lot of different factors that go into making this decision. So I want to talk about this and try to help make your decision a little easier.

First of all you want to think about the season that you are getting your pictures taken. Each season is commonly associated with certain colors and color schemes which is a good place to start. With warm tones such as oranges, reds and browns for the fall, and soft pastels in the spring. These colors don’t tend to mix well in other seasons such as wearing pastels in the midst of of vibrant fall colors. You want to compliment the colors of the season, not conflict with them.

More Considerations

You also want to think about the location that you are going to be taking your pictures at. Whether you’re taking them on a beach, in a forest, on a mountain, or downtown in a city they all have colors that compliment them better than others. Such as muted blues, tans, and whites looking good on a beach. Or crimson, tan, and denim for pictures taken among the fall leaves. While neutral and tones down colors are great for the outdoors with natural backgrounds that have their own vibrant colors adding in a bright pop of color. This can add a more playful edge to your family photos as well.

You just want to make sure it isn’t too bright that overpower and outshine you and your family members. At the end of the day, you want the focus to be on you guys and the love you have for each other. Not on the clothes you were wearing. Ultimately, the main thing to keep in mind when you are choosing the color palette for your family photos is choosing complimentary colors. For example, when shooting in the reddish orange rocks of Sedona, choosing blue tones for your outfits makes a for a great choice to compliment the landscape.

Words can not express how thankful and happy we are that we chose Monica to capture our perfect day. She made us feel both comfortable and confident in the whole process. She has this ease that makes you feel you’ve known her for years. Her kindness, personality, and professionalism was beyond what we could have hoped for. Her communication and organization was so impressive as well (I am far from organized)! Our photos are AMAZING, they are perfect. We wish we could do it all over again, and again. Seriously, book her right now! Best choice we could have made, and she helped make our day so wonderfully memorable and way less stressful.
