Amanda and Dakota: Aspen Corner Flagstaff Photographer
Aspen Corner Flagstaff Photographer: Amanda and Dakota’s Autumn Session. It was a blast working with this couple and hearing about their love. We met at Flagstaff’s famous Aspen Corner and took advantage of the amazing colors in the landscape. They were celebrating their 5 year anniversary and 9 years as a couple. Love is so beautiful!
About the Location: Aspen Corner
There’s something incredibly calming about aspen trees. Populating mountain climes through subterranean colonial root systems, the elegant white-barked beauties sway in tight-knit groves above alpine meadows. On the western slopes of Flagstaff’s San Francisco Peaks, canyon-born winds whip canopies of heart-shaped leaves into a symphony of whistles and whirs that only nature could score.
Situated on sloping meadows and open glades high on the western slope of the San Francisco Peaks, the Aspen Loop Trail affords unhindered views of the volcanic field to the west and the Grand Canyon to the north. The Peaks loom high above with fine views of the nearby Arizona Snowbowl.
Beginning at the Humphreys Trailhead and branching west, the way leads through micro habitats where sun-loving wildflowers and grasses alternate with shade plants and ferns along the trail’s winding, 300-foot elevation change. Birds of the open glades abound: flickers, jays, juncos, and warblers. Aspen, spruce, and pine stand along the trail, including several large bristlecones. Higher up the Peaks, these trees can live well over a thousand years!
