Sam and Tom: Engagement Photographers Sedona Arizona

Anniversary and Engagement Photographers Sedona Arizona Early Morning Session. I had such a great time photographing this couple during their visit to Sedona! We enjoyed some versatile local spots and Sam told me all about their love story…

“Our love story is based in adventure. When we were 16 (Sam) and 15 (Tom) we both traveled with our Girl/Boy Scout troops to a high adventure camp located in the Florida Keys. Our Michigan hometowns are only located 10 minutes apart but we crossed paths on a small island hundreds of miles away from them. We spent the week talking in our spare time between activities and then went on our first official date the week after we arrived back home in Michigan.

Fast forward through homecoming dances, proms, high school graduations and college graduations together. In 2012, after 7 years of dating, we decided to embark on two new adventures. Tom proposed so we got ready to get married, and we decided to move across the US to Arizona to experience life in a very different part of the country. We worked as teachers in Arizona for four years and traveled all over the West. However, we ultimately decided to return to Michigan to be closer to family.

We got married on June 29, 2013. Each year, we celebrate our anniversary using a letter of the alphabet (perfect for two teachers, right?). Year 1-A, Year 2-B…etc. This year is Year 6-F. We decided to get professional Fotos (using the Spanish term) in Sedona to celebrate. Each year together has been full of adventure and we wouldn’t have it any other way!”

About The Location: Schnebly Hill

For the more adventurous at heart, a 40 minute drive on a very bumpy old dirt road leads to a remote ceremony site very popular for intimate weddings and elopements. The views are almost unparalleled to any other Sedona wedding location. 360 degree views are stunning to take in and make the journey well worth while. It’s secluded location keeps it fairly private and while there is usually a handful of people enjoying the views and hiking it’s not uncommon to be the only ones there. Compared to Bell Rock or Red Rock Crossing it is a very quiet and private location.

This location is not for the faint of heart. The jeep ride can be pretty jarring. For all the trouble involved in getting there, as you can see, it’s well worth it for the stunning red rock views and desirable scenery couples planning a Sedona wedding crave. The timing can be tricky with light there and we highly recommend at least 90 of shooting time for the ceremony and portraits on Merry Go Round… 2 hours is ideal. There is about a 10 minute walk from the main dirt road so be sure to take a pair of hiking shoes with you for the walk out and back. Plenty of shooting time also will allow for going to two locations on Merry Go Round Rock … there are two levels to Merry Go Round rock and both are an amazing backdrop for wedding photography.

Words can not express how thankful and happy we are that we chose Monica to capture our perfect day. She made us feel both comfortable and confident in the whole process. She has this ease that makes you feel you’ve known her for years. Her kindness, personality, and professionalism was beyond what we could have hoped for. Her communication and organization was so impressive as well (I am far from organized)! Our photos are AMAZING, they are perfect. We wish we could do it all over again, and again. Seriously, book her right now! Best choice we could have made, and she helped make our day so wonderfully memorable and way less stressful.
