3 Best Flagstaff Sunset Locations

Saaty Photography: 3 Best Flagstaff Sunset Locations. Where to have the best view in an equally beautiful location. The mountain town of Flagstaff lies in Northern Arizona, not far from the Utah border. With an elevation of about 7000 feet it is the highest city in all of Arizona. With this you would expect some impressive views – and you are right! Watching the sunset in Flagstaff is special wherever you are, but I have decided on the three best places to go!

 

#1 Arizona Snowbowl’s Hart Prairie

Do you want to get up high and have a clear overview of the area while the sun sets? Then this is the place for you. Snowbowl is located on Mt. Humphreys, the highest mountain of Flagstaff. You can drive all the way up to the Ski lifts and park your car in the parking space there. The hart prairie is right next to it, facing west. When the evening comes this area will be lit up by the last sunrays as the sun sets. Enjoy a vast and beautiful view!

#2 Buffalo Park 

Another beautiful location is Buffalo Park. Buffalo Park is Flagstaff´s Central Park with a 2.2 mile flat loop trail. It is very well maintained and can be accessed by all levels of ability. This park is a beautiful space of fields, trees and if you are lucky – wildlife! You can spend time there a couple of hours before and after the sunset, enjoying a picnic and later observing the stars.

#3 Lake Mary 

My last recommendation is Lake Mary which is divided into two parts, Upper and Lower Lake Mary. It is a long and narrow reservoir, good for watersports. It is surrounded by Flagstaff´s forest and wildlife. When the sun sets you can relax on the grass on the sides and watch the water reflect the sky’s colors.
